What I do at work

This week, MATER'S TALL TALES was released on DVD and Blu Ray. Now, normally I'm not a huge shill for my day job, but this disc is something kind of special for me. These shorts were amazingly fun to work on. Even more unique, for me, are the bonus features. You'll find "Unmade Tales" in the special features section, and if you're brave enough to click on BACKWARDS TO THE FORWARDS, you'll find...me. Pitching storyboards for an unmade short. It's a rare look at what actual working storyboards at Pixar kind of look like. This whole "Unmade Tales" section is a rare look at board artists pitching, too. If "story" is something you're hoping to get into eventually, it's a nice thing to check out, just as a heads-up on how we do it.

You've just sold a DVD to someone who wouldn't have bought one otherwise.

Can't wait to see it!

Hey Scott,

Watched the DVD and was delighted at the sheer amount of behind the scenes stuff we got to see.
I was actually a little disappointed when I realized we weren't going to be able to see the boards for ALL of the created shorts.

I really liked the pitch you did though I can see why they opted not to go with it. As funny as it was, it creates more questions about "Cars History" than it answers.

I laughed my butt off at the Chariot Racers but seriously laughed until I cried at the wheels.
"OHHH!!" "OOOHHHH!!!!"
So funny and holy cow brilliant.

How long were you on the project or did you roll in and off on various shorts?

Anyway, great work!

Thanks for the tip, I bought the DVD today and just watched all the pitches. Awesome! These are the kind of extra's I was missing on the latest Pixar DVD's.

How interesting! I've watched a few features on that DVD, but not all. Storyboard sessions interest me, so I'll definitely have to check out this special feature.

Congratulations to all of you who worked on these short films! Every one of you did a marvelous job!

Additionally, I thought I'd mention that my little sister is addicted to this collection of shorts. She literally watches it every day, and the rest of my family know it well enough that we sometimes will quote the film or randomly sing "Dad Gum".

That was so cool to see you guys doing the pitches! Endlessly inspiring - everyone needs to get this DVD.
